On these days, my heart breaks a little. And I’m never quite sure what to do. Or what to say. So, I just…stay.
Hey there! I’m Mikala—a family doctor, wife, mother of 5, well-being advocate, and author of the books Ordinary on Purpose and Everything I Wish I Could Tell You About Midlife. Each month my writing reaches millions of women, but I am thrilled to be connecting with YOU. I’m truly grateful to have you here!
All in Life
On these days, my heart breaks a little. And I’m never quite sure what to do. Or what to say. So, I just…stay.
He reminds me even in his death, there is more. Something SO MUCH MORE!! May we do the best job we can while we’re here. To serve. And be kind. To seek joy in the ordinary. And love with everything we have.
I know you’re out there. Pretending. Trotting out that same tired response, “I’m fine.” Getting your work done. Holding it all together.
This year will likely be mostly the same. Same life. Same house. Same family. Same ME.
I’m realizing I don’t want 2021 to be my year. For anything. Like finally achieving whole house organization. Or finally getting into the best shape of my life. Or finally achieving some grand purpose.
And every day instead of feeling overwhelmed, I can CHOOSE to be grateful...
I know you didn’t have to. You did it because you care…and that’s what teachers do!!
Because the people I love most in the world...LIVE right here.
And I’ll be finding beauty in the ordinary moments...right here at home.
This month I want to focus on the incredible depth of gratitude I have for this lovely, ordinary little life.
BE PRESENT right where you are. Notice the simple, ordinary moments of your life. There is LIFE all around you. And those things are CERTAIN.
I can’t control the outcome of things. But I can choose to LOVE…even those who have very different convictions than me.
This little life we’re living??? It’s for an audience of One. And He’s already cheering, “I love watching you play!!!
Can we just embrace the chaos and noise? Embrace the laundry and dishes? Embrace the missed Zoom meetings? Embrace the floor littered with, well…everything??
All you have to do is show up. Cast your vote. Raise your voice. And be heard.
People make relationships SO hard. Plus, most of the time we don’t get to choose!!! God just hands us a set of parents or grandparents or a few siblings or kids or neighbors or bosses.
